9 Days: Tea, Flamingos & The Big 5
A 9-day tour which will take you from the tea plantations of Kericho to flamingo watching on the shores of Lake Nakuru and finally ending on the great plains of the Masai Mara.

Day 1: Exploring Nairobi
1 night or 2 nights depending on arrival time and optional activities;
Meet at the airport and transfer to The Nairobi Club – where Roosevelt and Churchill previously stayed

- Nightlife till early AM great live music

Day 2: The Great Rift Valley
Head to the tea plantations of Kericho – stop on the way to admire the stunning views overlooking the vast Great Rift Valley. A natural wonder approximately 6,000 kilometres – stretching from Lebanon to Mozambique and splitting the African plains in two!
Day 3: The Tea Plantations
Wake up in Kericho on the Tea Plantations in a old but charming colonial hotel with great views over the plantations – optional tour of the plantations
Depart for Marthas Guest House arriving in time for Lunch – the perfect place to experience local culture and food!
Opened in 1955 by Princess Margaret (the late sister of Queen Elizabeth II) the guest houses accommodation is very basic and simple yet comfortable with clean amenities.
Day 4: Hippos On Lake Victoria
- Take a morning trip out onto Lake Victoria by local fishermen for hippo and bird watching
- Eat out local style – Fresh Tilapia by the Lake
- Visit Kisumu 3rd largest city in Kenya – Markets
- Head back to Marthas to relax

- Day trip to Kakamega home to some of the rarest monkeys and butterflies in Kenya and one of the largest rainforests in Africa
Day 5: The Obama Ancestral Home
Optional – Visit the ancestral home of the Obama family – Granny Sarah Obama
The Kogelo region is the ancestral home of the Obama Family, and Kogelo Tours has direct links with the Obama Family in Kenya.

Day 6: Migrating Flamingoes On Lake Nakuru
Head to Lake Nakuru to see the migrating flamingoes stay the night in the lodge nearby
Keep an eye out as this area is also known to be fantastic for Rhino sightings.

Day 7 – 9: The Big 5 and Tanzania
3 days 2 nights in lodge
Drive to the infamous Masai Mara in time to watch the sun set over the great African plains.
Stay at the luxury safari lodge Tree Tops or Hippo Lodge
Head out for an evening game drive – here is the best opprtunity to see all Big 5 in one place*
Step across the Kenyan boarder into Tanzania.

Day 9: Time To Say Goodbye
Head out early for your last game drive
Drive to Niarobi to catch an evening flight home or spend the night departure home (see day one for activities in Nairobi)
