Day 1: Exploring Nairobi

1 night or 2 nights depending on arrival time and optional activities;

Meet at the airport and transfer to The Nairobi Club – where Roosevelt and Churchill previously stayed.

Day 2: Local Life

Fly to Kisumu and experience life in the true Kenya community at our guest house – the perfect place to experience local culture and food!

Opened in 1955 by Princess Margaret (the late sister of Queen Elizabeth II)  the guest houses accommodation is very basic and simple yet comfortable with clean amenities.

• Drive across and grab a picture at the Equator
• Engage in local traditional village life
• Taste authentic Kenyan food
• Have a ‘pint’ down at the local Busa Bar
• Dive into the hustle at a local market
• Learn local skills, sewing, cooking and farming

Day 3: A Chance To Give Back

Kogelo Tours has several active projects, set up to help the long term development of the local community.

During your stay in Mundeku there will be an opportunity to visit our projects and we are happy to suggest ways in which you can contribute if you so wish.

We would also like to thank all previous customers which have, and continue to, support these projects.

Day 4: Hippo And Bird Watching

• Take a morning trip out onto Lake Victoria by local fishermen for hippo and bird watching
•  Eat out local style – Fresh Tilapia by the Lake
• Visit Kisumu 3^rd largest city in Kenya – Markets
• Head back to Marthas to relax

Alternative or add on;

• Day trip to Kakamega home to some of the rarest monkeys and butterflies in Kenya and one of the largest rainforests in Africa

Day 5: Obama Ancestral Home

Optional – Visit the ancestral home of the Obama family – Granny Sarah Obama

The Kogelo region is the ancestral home of the Obama Family, and Kogelo Tours has direct links with the Obama Family in Kenya.

Nobody can question the significance of Barack Obama’s election to presidency in modern history. Kogelo tours offer a unique opportunity to explore and experience the culture of his ancestral heartland.

Travelling to Kisumu as Obama describes in “Dreams of My Father” you are fully immersed in the area’s history and way of life.

Day 6 – 8: Unwind In The Indian Ocean

3 days 2 nights

Fly to Mombasa (the country’s oldest (900 AD) and second largest city) and stay at one of the best resorts and enjoy the wonderful colours of this exotic coastline.

Day 8: Red Elephants

Depart early for Tsavo East Safari Park, famous for it’s stunning red elephants.

Arrive in time for lunch at Voi Safari Lodge where you will be able to sit back, relax and watch the Elephant drinking peacefully at the waterhole below.

Head out for an afternoon game drive to see more nocturnal wildlife.

(lodges will be selected depending on time of year, movement of animals, to maximise your experience and possible sightings of the Big 5)

Day 9: Rhinos And Leopards

Start the day with a morning game drive which includes transfer to Tsavo West and Ngulia Safari Lodge – famous for its sightings of Rhino and Leopards

Relax, unwind and enjoy lunch in the lodge over looking the park

Head out for another evening game drive to catch some Lions resting.

Day 10: Kilimanjaro

Wake up for your final game drive.

After lunch depart for Amboseli – be sure to a shot of the elephants who live in the foothills of snow capped Kilimanjaro on the way!

Arrive at the lodge in time for an evening drive before putting up your feet for the night.

Day 11: Time To Say Goodbye

Depart for Nairobi in morning-  arriving in time for afternoon flight home or spend an additional night in Nairobi before departing home.
